The New York Slice Dream (Almost) Achieved: A Review of Joe's Pizza in Times Square

The New York Slice Dream (Almost) Achieved: A Review of Joe's Pizza in Times Square

Joe's Pizza in Times Square is legendary. With its red checkered floors and frenetic energy, it's a New York City bucket list essential. I, for one, dreamt of that iconic folded slice, dripping with melty cheese and pepperoni perfection.  According to Google reviews, this was the place to experience the quintessential New York slice.

Reality offered a slightly different experience. The pepperoni slice I snagged boasted a generous amount of pepperoni, but the crust, the holy grail of a New York slice, was a touch overdone. The char went beyond that satisfying crisp, venturing into slightly burnt territory.  While the flavor wasn't unpleasant, it wasn't quite the revelation I'd anticipated.

However, there's a certain charm to Joe's. The walls are plastered with photos of A-listers indulging in their own slices – think Spiderman (the movie kind!), Kim Kardashian, and Bill Murray.  Perhaps I just missed the perfectly executed slice,  a risk you take in a high-volume joint.

The Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 slices. It's a New York experience, for sure, but the pizza itself could be a touch better.
